Mirena Post-Removal - Update #2

So, it’s been about 7 weeks since I had the dreaded IUD out and I’ve had my 6-week post-op check in with my gyno and all is ok. I’ve had a normal cycle and things are overall where they should be.

Since having the IUD removed I’ve noticed the following:

  • My boobs don’t hurt all the time
  • My hair & skin is waaay less greasy
  • I’m not in constant pain, abdominally or in my back
  • I have more energy
  • I’m having waaaay fewer hot flashes
  • I haven’t had one anxiety attack. I was having an attack about 4 - 6 times a week before it was removed. I can go grocery shopping and meet new people without wanting to hide and throw up.
  • I’ve not lost any weight yet, but I’m only just starting to work out again.

In general, I feel really really good. I feel like my old confident, fun-loving self, which is so nice to discover again. I really had no idea how hard this stupid thing was affecting me - if I had known, I would have had it removed years ago and stayed on the pill.

On another note, I’m getting comments from people, asking questions and the like - while I welcome questions and comments, I’m no Dr and this blog is a past-time, so please take everything on here with a grain of salt. If you have serious and imminent concerns, please contact your Dr or emergency services (if needed). Only you know for sure if you’re ok or not.

    Hi there,
Thank you for ur comments with your experience. I understand and agree that we need to study well before deciding on opting for merina. However in my situation, i was ready to go for any option before taking up the final alternative of Hysterectomy, which I eventually did ( and so did not go thru the trouble of removing merina). When the cramps and bleeding goes beyond a level, any option which can reduce that would be a boon when compared to the pain.
